Lets get real.
Some are good. Some are bad. Some we want. Some we want to get rid off.
When it comes to habits, it can be a struggle; even with a motive.
The most common motive in the exercise/nutrition world for such change is health. The second most common motive for change is physical appearance or aesthetics.
What amazes me is; we all share the same motive….yet we don’t all find success.
Why is that?
I have yet to meet ONE adult client that has not referred to their past experience with exercise/nutrition goals as a marry-go-round.
Unfortunate,…
Right?
They just can’t seem to shake their poor habits. Or in better terms; lack of GOOD habits. So they try, try again….fail again….try again…each time with less hope and belief in themselves that they too will be a success story.
So to these persons I say this. Shift your focus. I believe in the process of elimination. To be honest, you’ve done majority of the work in the “what doesn’t work” category that your chances for success now are pretty high :-)
Focus on the educating yourself, get a coach that values behavior accountability and don’t half-ass your proposed plan from your trainer.
If you do these three things. You will be THAT success story.
Try these steps for a kick start in the right direction.
Remind
What is your motive? What is your cue? Write this down and refer to it often.
Routine
Stick to the plan! Log and record. Most importantly GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY. Achieving your average exercise/nutrition goals really is as simple as “Just do it”.
Reward
Pay attention to progress. Progress comes in all shapes and sizes. From emotion to mental clarity, achieving the initial challenge to greeting the next challenge with open arms. Every step up that ladder counts and should be celebrated. Take the time to reflect and self-identify.
If you don’t believe it, YOU will not achieve it.
